Earliest proven ancestor is Elcany Manley (different census shows spelling as Cainan and Elkana), born in Wayne County NC and migrated to TN about 1828. He is possibly the son of James Manley Sr. or Henry who are first found in Wayne Co. NC 1779 Voter List (Old Dobbs County).
